ForgeHub TGIF #6! - YouTubeClick here for video in normal size
For those of you who do not know, Thank God Its Forgeday (TGIF) is a game night that normally takes places every other Friday. Members sign up and have fun for a couple of hours on Forge Hub featured maps and other forged maps. On Friday, May 2, TGIF returned, this time allowing more participants than any of the past TGIFs. Below each of the hosts has posted about their parties TGIF experience:
Grif: Finally its back from the dead. Although not all of my party made it, not going to point out any names *cough* Penguinish *cough* I managed to fill in with other people. It was one of the best nights, from screaming our heads off because someone dropped the flag to laughing our heads off because of a rocket hit by a Gravhammer that hit our Warthog to just staring at the TV after I landed a corkscrew (in the video) It was a great night, and I look forward to more!
Running Chron: My party went really smooth, for the most part everyone in my party was really mature. However there was a few people that didn't show up because they wanted to play GTA IV which was kind of disappointing but oh well, also a few of the people that I picked up from the overflow had really bad connections and would lag out of the game most the time, everyone in my party had fun for the entirety of TGIF, around 11:00 we stopped playing featured maps and just passed the party around to let people try and test out their own maps, which I think everyone enjoyed...
TXGhost:My party and myself had a blast with TGIF. We had eight people in the party, most were overflows. We played casual games most of the time, including Snow Mice (a favorite among us), Tremors, Swings, and Lost Chamber. We had fun the whole time whether if it was from barely avoiding a Wraith or spinning around for no good reason on Lost Chamber. Overall: Great Fun.
Gravedigger5454: My party didn't go as well this time. I had trouble getting a TGIF gamertag onto my friends and getting invites sent on time. Once I was finally able to invite people, only a few joined. I ended up filling some extra spots with a couple overflows as well as a few other people that joined. Probably the most exciting game was a match we had on Convoy Tunnel. We had some high scores in this one, especially by me, who finally got that "hunting season" medal.
Predicide: My room was definitely a blast. 9 out of 10 scheduled participants showed up along with one guest, keeping the room full the entire event. We had no lagging or booting to speak of. That pretty much makes us the winners of TGIF, Don't argue. Playlist highlights include: Convoy Tunnel, Amphibious Threat, Faction, snipers on Kentucky Tango, and Cat 'n Mouse.
Shock Theta: Starting 2 hours earlier than the other groups, those of us across the Atlantic had a great time all the way through. Several of those guys stayed around for 6 hours or even longer, and we always had a full group of people, drawing from the overflow when we needed to. The games were consistently great fun, but one of the highlights of the night was an epic last man standing on Snow Mice lasting almost 5 minutes and ending with a long range wraith 'snipe' to flip me off the edge of the map.
LIGHTSOUT225: Surprisingly this was my first ever TGIF! Our room got off to a bumpy start with about half the room getting randomly booted by XBL and sent back to pre-game lobbies each time we started a match. The XBL gods were against us, but we weren't about to let them stop us. The problem faded and we were really able to get some quality games goin. Cat n Mouse and Tremors were among our faves, which was awesome because I'd never played them before. Convoy Tunnel was a huge hit, and we had some epic Cellars and Faction Conquest action, among many others.
Orangeremi: Well my party started out a tad iffy. First off, I got home only five minutes before it started, and hopped on just in time to download a few of the maps to be played. I sent out invites and only 3 people arrived, so we played a couple rounds of DoTF. Then when more people started joining, we played some great games of Bungie 500, Cat 'n' Mouse, Tremors, H3 Foundation, Different Level, and Lost Chamber. Unfortunately, I had a few rebels on my hands. During the Slayer games, some of the members decided to create the green team. They called themselves pacifists, and refused to fight. They'd run up to either team, and talked them into becoming pacifists as well. Unfortunately, most of the party eventually left for the green team, leaving only 3 people actually playing. About an hour before the event ended, my party was down to just 5 people, and we played FFFFA for the rest of the hour. This TGIF was the best one yet, but my party felt like it lasted a tad too long, so I lost interest during half of the FFFFA. But overall, it was great!
Mike N ACE 92: Over half my party did not show up, so I tried the overflow, still no luck. The people that did show up were mature, and they listened to directions. There was not too bad of a lag issue, so everybody was happy. Some people did quit, but I did not have to boot anybody. Overall, the event went decent.
Projectt2501: After a frantic mass download of some of the featured maps and other suggested maps, I sent out the invites. I was surprised to see that not everyone showed up. At first I was slightly irritated, but then I found out how much fun a party of eight or so can be. Soon after TGIF started, I invited Asper49 into my party to co-host with me. I was very pleased with the behavior of my party. For being a group of people that I didn't full know, they were very mature and acted appropriately throughout the night. To all the members of my party, thank you, thank you for making this TGIF an enjoyable one.
Cosmic Rick: I was pleased with my first TGIF hosting experience. I'd like to thank the members of my party for being a part of what was possibly the best group ever. Only one boot was necessary, but I let him back in, and he had learned his lesson. I always love playing on old standard maps, and this night was no different. Plus, I think everybody had fun mixing it up with some random-ish gametypes. I hope the next one is this much fun.
