FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT!

It gives me great pleasure to announce a new event hitting Forgehub, the Friday Night Fights! In this new and exciting spectacle we will pit teams of Forge Hub members against each other, solely for our amusement. Every two weeks we hope to get a 4v4 match on three community maps, but for this special Exposition FNF we did a Staff versus Loyals 5 on 5. Unfortunately though, the staff team was shorthanded, so Predicide stepped in to fill the gap, giving us Team Hammar versus Teh Loyulz.

The Maps:

  • Heatwave

  • Kentucky Tango

  • Hangar 02 V2

Also, for the teal deers, we have a Video Recap.

Team Hammar

Team Loyal

Game One: 1 Flag on Heatwave

This map, made by Lightsout of Team Loyal, was horrible according to the gallant losers,Team Hammar. Unsurprisingly, the gloating winners of Team Loyal disagreed. Not even able to mount the mancannon, let alone score, the hammars failed much more than the map did. Having never played on it before myself, I was left wandering around aimlessly and dieing. But according to sources close to the game, Cosmic Rick drove Lights around in the Gauss warthog, shooting people out of the air like so many clay pigeons, which effectively halted our resistance. Did I say resistance? We were mostly just cowering in the shadows. :(

On the left, LIGHTSOUT plays Duck Hunt with the poor defenseless Staff Members and Predicide. Due to lack of knowledge of anti-vehicle weapons, we were systematically destroyed by the Gauss and the two Banshees. Despite their superior knowledge of the map, perhaps stemming from their team containing the builder of said map, we WERE able to grab the flag a few times, jump off of the fortress the wrong direction, and then be killed. It's like success, but the opposite of it.

Final Score: Loyals 1, Team Hammar 0

Game Two: 1 Bomb on Kentucky Tango

This game was the closest game in the entire set, ending 2 to 1 Loyals. Note that this is another map made by a loyal: Cosmic Rick. We were seriously outplayed this time, we can't blame the mancannons anymore. We had hoped to bring it to a tie after we failed to arm the bomb the second time, making our defeat slightly less epic in scope, but their second arming took about 30 seconds for them to get. In retrospect, Team Hammar's strategy was DISORGANIZED ZERG RUSH!!one. And we got annihilated, hardcore. With Lasers and Bullets and Energy Weapons. On a personal note, in the last round I threw a radar jammer at the bomb carrier. It wasn't very effective!

The left image shows the bored Loyals betraying each other because they were bored waiting for us to try and score. Pathetic. The right image shows me getting lasered while trying to subtly walk across the elevated bridge in the center of the map, while flanked by Asper wielding rockets. Fat lot of good they did me -_-. Preparation is not my strong point, apparently. Anyway, at that last bombing, we ALMOST disarmed it. I was there. That bar was a PIXEL away from being disarmed. The loyals must have been haxxing. But I digress... Keep in mind, this was the Hammars at our BEST, so don't be afraid to play us, especially me, in future FNFs.

Final Score: Loyals 2, Team Hammar 1

Game Three: Hangar CTF on Hangar 02 V2

In this last game, the 'official' position is that Team Hammar let the Loyals win, seeing as we had already lost two in a row. Unofficially, Running Chron ran the flag because he can't shoot to save his life, Cosmic Rick has a camo fetish, and Team Hammar's strategy was "Let the flag come to us." Also, when I say, "I need backup," I generally mean it. Especially when I have flag and am being shot at. What were you guys doing? "Defending the flag?" What garbage. The best defense should have been to help me score.

On the left we see one of Team Hammar's unsuccessful strategies: Getting on the back of a mongoose driven by an enemy surrounded by enemies. I'm sure it sounded a lot better at the time. The right shows me ALMOST escaping the wrath of the Crazed Cosmic Rick. We still could have picked it up, if the Loyals hadn't killed 80% of our team. This game was probably the best game we played in terms of defense though. We only let them score once. There should be a parade in our honour, I think.

Final Score: Loyals 1, Team Hammar 0

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLKzoKNral8Well, the loyals won. I lost a bet. But in the next FNFs, assuming people don't remember Team Hammar's abysmal performance, we all look forward to avenging the teabags served to us at the very end of a round when we were trying to grab the flag to bring it into sudden death, but were brutally killed and then teabagged over the final score of 0 to 1. You know who you are.
