Here we are again, everybody. Me at work, trying to think of some kind of gripping introductory paragraph that'll do the awesomeness of the previous two week justice, and you, looking at me awkwardly as I don't deliver. I guess I'll start it off with Halo. Halo is a fun game. Halo has a good story line and stuff. Did you hear about that cool map editor? You can, like, move around spawn points and weapons and stuff. I heard they're making a map called Foundry or something neat like that that will be directed at Forge enthusiasts. I don't know, I think it's just a rumor, though. Doesn't seem like something like that would catch on.
Annnnnnd, that's the best intro you're going to get today. I really should try to write a better one, especially since I get paid by pageviews and comments. Yes, I get paid--Shock Theta pays me with gum, and Kuroda pays me with headshots in 1v1's. True story, the latter at least. (If you want a self-esteem boost regarding your Halo skills, play a match with me) D:
1v1 ME BRO.http://www.forgehub.com/forum/announcements/139532-1v1-smackdown-forge-contest.html
Speaking of 1v1-ing, we're holding a 1v1 contest! We're currently in the forging portion of the competition. Forging portion, you ask? That's right! If you want to submit your 1v1 map to the contest, please do! A couple things to note, however, is that you really should design your map around the gametype settings. It's not absolutely necessary, however, doing so will greatly improve the chances that it is chosen to get into the brackets.
Settings to keep in mind while designing are as followed:
Primary Weapon: DMR
Secondary Weapon: None
Starting Grenades: 1 Frag
Starting Equipment: NonePlayer Speed: 120%
Jump Height: 110%
Player Gravity: 150%Motion Tracker Mode: Enhanced
If you're ready to submit your map, direct your browser right on over here!
And here are your submission guidelines:
Maps must be completed and submitted by 12 PM EST Tuesday July 31st.
Previously released maps are eligible, but they must be reworked to support the official gametype.
Maps must be created on default maps, preferably Forgeworld. No DLC.
Maps must be tagged FHSmackdown in your fileshare.
Halo: Stuff.First up today, the folks over at Halo Waypoint posted an announcement full of delicious content that you may have missed. I'll touch on the things that interested me.
RTX and SDCC Q&A
Look at dem acronyms. Anyway, an announcement regarding RTX and SDCC Q&A was posted and everything from the new Halo 4 Xbox360 console to forge variants being in Matchmaking was covered. The answer to the latter? From the get-go, forge variants will not be in matchmaking. But, they state, we will most likely see the integration of forge maps in matchmaking in the future.
Just like a child, I enjoy the pictures the most.Balloon Chief is best Chief.
I totally know, and play Halo with these girls.Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn.
Heard of it? It's a sweet little web series 343i is putting on. I personally haven't had the chance to look into it too deeply yet, so I can't voice any musing about it. Such a let down! Such a noob! Isn't it your job to be up-to-date with this stuff Noxy-face? Nah, I only make words on your internets. If you feel you have awesome sentences to evacuate from your facehole, you're in luck! We have a discussion thread right here.
Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Official Full-length Trailer (Official live action Machinima Prime series) - YouTubeSocial Media
Do you follow any Halo pages on Facebook? If not, you totally should. Every week they post caption contests for photos taken in game. Sometimes entertaining, sometimes awkward, sometimes just down right awesome.
This week they chose an image just somewhat similar to Penrose's Staircase. If you don't feel like liking them on Facebook, that's fine, click the image below and submit your caption directly to their website!http://halo.xbox.com/blogs/post/2012/07/20/Friday-Caption-Fun-59.aspx
Count the stairs!
That's everything that caught MY interest from that page, however, you should look it over; there's a lot more content on there that I didn't cover.
Oh! Speaking of social media, are you following US on Twitter yet? Our handle is @Forge_Hub. ...What are you still doing here? Click that link, it'll open in a new tab, don't worry! Black Theorem tells me that no one actually knows who's behind the posts on there, but when they happen, they're awesome!
Rank Changes.[l-col]Well, for a short moment, I added myself into a new rank. Suspiciously, it was around 5am my time when I was the only one online apart from the twelve guests browsing the maps forum. No witnesses, sure, but I promise it happened.[/l-col][r-col]It's super legit. I even used comic sans--some of my graphic design buddies told me that if you're going for professionalism, comic sans is the way to go. And rainbows, of course. You should've seen the font colour, heh.[/r-col]
That's President Supreme Overlord Noxy to you.
In all seriousness though, I took the liberty of browsing over every single one of our 73,433 members individually, and it would appear as if no one has swapped their coloured pants lately.

Ty's Challenge ContestDo you guys remember tylyr1? He, alongside of Death Yoyo, is the dude who really pushed Ghost Merging in Halo 3 to be revolutionary. If you don't know what ghost merging is, you probably weren't around here in the late days of Halo 3. Anyway, he's having a contest that is pretty awesome, and has for some reason, not gotten much attention here on Forge Hub.
Ty's Challenge Contest - $40 First Place Prize! - Ends 7/30/2012 - YouTube
40 McChickens coming my way.

Enjoy playing Halo? Enjoy giving map creators input? Work for the Guild![/l-col][r-col]Every so often (every other Friday to be exact) a selection of fine individuals from our forums host an evening full of customs. Depending on what those individuals choose to host, whether it be competitive, casual, infection, invasion, mini-game oriented or a mix of them all is up to them, but it's up to you which of these lobbies you join. Sit back, relax, grab your energy drink of choice (mine is water :3), and enjoy a night with cool dudes from all around the world. If you'd like to host your own official lobby for our next TGIF, send a private message to Shock Theta with all the details below filled out. Question of the Site UpdateLast time around I asked:
What piques your interest the most from today's Halo 4 forge reveal?
The very wisdomous (and always sexy) LD Love has an important message regarding player trait zones. You will all listen to him.
As much as I like these player trade zones, zero gravity rooms and stuff like that will be totally overused, a lot of people will force such zones into their maps. I just don't see a lot of opportunities to use them, except in mini games
This time around I ask: How are you doing this morning/afternoon/evening/night?
12:25am Wisdom from the LulboxNoxiw: "12:25am wisdom from the lulbox for SU, go."
SargeantSarcasm: "I'm amazing, and it's really 9:25 PM in Cool Standard Time."
SilentJacket: "The waffles are a lie, the cake is quite real."
Noxiw: "I didn't know you lived on the west coast, Sarge."
FrozenGoathead: "i canz be in t3h sit3 updat3z0rz?"
Berb: "All ur pnckakes r belong to Berb"
SargeantSarcasm: "Of course I live on the west coast. REPPIN CALIFORNIA AWWW YEE."
