Site Update: May 27th

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Tonight, I intend to bring you a site update through a combination of literacy, attendance and force of will (if you feel you can bring these to bear in a sustained and vaguely directed way, please be in touch) not withstanding my already onerous and important role of supposedly doing shit people see no real evidence of, and occasionally generating suspicion that the former is true without giving rise to complaint. This is, I assure you, a very difficult thing to accomplish.

In semi-related news, a sexy new forum upgrade is coming in the near future. We'll update you when it's about to go live.

Fileshares are still downWhich saddens me. On the other hand, it does provide an opportunity to plan and build your AWESOMEST-MAP-EVER and test it with everyone while we wait for files to be transferred over to 343i. Last we heard it was (hopefully) summertime that this would be completed - well, summertime isn't far away now. Go build that thing and test the life out of it.

Call a PlumberWith all the new Halo 4 information floating around on the interwebs and the E3 expo arriving soon, it's important to remind you guys that we cannot tolerate any posting or linking to leaked or illegitimately obtained information about Halo 4 within our forum. That said, with E3 just over a week away there's sure to be plenty of juicy intel coming out of 343 about Halo 4 - and hopefully, some detail on the next iteration of the forge.

Thank you, and keep it clean.

The Guild

Let's face it. You like Halo. We all like Halo here at Forge Hub. Who'd have thought it? Anyway, the guilds here on our forums are home to many members who wish to actively contribute to the community as a whole. Interested? Thought so. You should be.

There are currently two subsections within the guild as a whole.

The Testers Guild
Built a tasty map but can't get the numbers together to properly stress test that beast? The Testers Guild gets around the problem by offering up a dedicated group of testers who'll check your map out and leave you some feedback afterwards. It's a really good way to get constructive criticism and a variety of opinions on your work. You can also take part yourself, and start on the path to becoming a fully fledged member of The Testers Guild yourself.

The Customs Lobby
Simple, effective and does exactly what you expect - brings people together to play customs. Browse through the list of upcoming games for one that you like the sound of, or if you've got an idea for a game night yourself, fill out the details and let everyone know!

But wait! There's more! Working within the guild gives you a chance to make your way into one of our coveted blue ranks! Read over the requirements for your blue here and here.

TGIF Custom Game NightOur biweekly custom game night, TGIF, has skipped a week. The next TGIF will be Friday June 1st, and you can sign up for a particular host's lobby come Wednesday evening, when our sign-up article will go out. If you've never taken part before, it's a great way to get lots of games on awesome custom-made maps. What's not to like?

Prospective TGIF hosts: Copy the form below, fill in your details and PM it to Shock Theta ASAP.

Q of the SULast time around, Noxiw asked:

"If you could create a weapon to implement into Halo 4, what would it be? What would its strengths be? It's weaknesses?"

Well, this was my favourite answer, from ArmadillosTHFC:

"...a high powered covenant sniper weapon, like a Needle rifle causes instant super combine on unshielded foes..."

That would be very, very cool. Especially cool if we had some serious blood effects thrown in there too. I've always thought super combines should be... messier. Right?

A question for this time then! We've seen a few different day one unlocks for armour designs recently, depending on the store you pre-order Halo 4 from. If you were working for 343i and were given an armour set to skin up, what would your design be? Bonus points for crudely drawn examples with MS Paint. Double points for actual drawings. Commence!

If you have any thoughts on this article, or the front page in general, that you would like to share with us then we invite you to post your opinions in the Front Page Feedback thread.
