Imminent Awesomeness!

Calling all forgers! As you may have heard, 343 Industries has decided that the next batch of maps they’ll use to beef up matchmaking will be a pincer movement of double the action: 4v4 Team Slayer/Arena maps, and the best Invasion maps out there. A huge range, but we can’t complain - that just means more custom content in the playlists!

We've set up a new forum area, The Library: a repository where you can submit your best work. Through testing, feedback and discussion, we'll pick the best of the best to be sent to 343i's internal testers, via the community cartographers.

While it doesn’t guarantee an entry into matchmaking, it does guarantee that your map will be seen! Considering our own obscenely high standards, if your map does get sent you can at least be hopeful (fingers crossed). Remember, just like matchmaking, it needs to support the gametype/s fully with no framerate drops that exceed those already present on the map. Don't worry - we won’t penalize you for destroyed tanks!

Okay, sweet... What maps are they looking for exactly?

Team Slayer / Arena

  • Best of the best Team Slayer and/or Arena maps

  • Support for CTF/Oddball/Assault (optional)

Invasion

  • Best of the best Invasion maps

  • Support for 4-player split screen

I want to take part! Anything else?

Great! If you want to submit a map for possible entry, head on over to The Library and show us what you're made of. Post a new thread while carefully following the guidelines (see here) and then, as a community, we can work together to test, improve, rate, and whatever else needs to be done in order to find our very best.

You do not want to mess about in this forum; we mean srs bsns. In fact, so serious that there is a set of rules which all submissions must follow:

  • All maps submitted must fulfil the current requirements (eg. gametype support/player count etc). These will be posted as an announcement in The Library, updated as and when they change.

  • All maps submitted must utilize the appropriate canvas map.

  • All maps submitted must follow the submission template exactly.

  • All maps submitted must not display more framerate drops than one would see on the base map.

  • General behavior on the site, especially in The Library, must be kept to the highest standard. Maps authored by disruptive members will not be considered.

  • No idle discussion in map submission threads: Feedback only (but lots of it!)

Deadline

We have until the last week of March for this round of maps. Do yourself (and us) a favor and make sure we have at least a few days to test it ourselves. The sooner you get your maps in, the better chance you will have.

Good luck!
