Probably some nouns, proper, improper, or pro; maybe a few verbs, possibly some prepositions, and awesome adjectives! It's a grammar party over here at Forge Hub this lovely Sunday! See, look: Sunday! "Sunday" is a proper noun! I told you there would be some! Not to mention the subtle, yet amazing alliteration a few lines back regarding adjectives. If this hasn't captured your attention yet, I don't know what will, after all, I know everyone's favorite subject is English!

As many of you may know, we held an open application process for a position within our Moderation team on the last Site Update. While I am pleased to tell you that we had a wonderful turn out, the only downside, at least apparent to me, is having many of you walk away empty handed. I encourage those who applied, and even those had thought about applying but didn't, to become more active in the community should this opportunity come about again in the future. I would like you guys to take time if you haven’t already to congratulate our newest editions to the Moderation Team: xSharpshooter94, LD ♥, and Rorak Kuroda.
Now I wish I could give feedback to each and everyone of you, but that’s nigh impossible when I have over 40 of you applying to become part of our Moderation team. Granted the decision was most certainly a tough decision, I am most happy with the results. After careful consideration we are capping the Moderation Team to its current population unless future circumstances allow us to expand our ranks.
Now onto business. Remember I said the Open Application had a great turn out? Well… we’ve decided to do it again, but this time it’s for a different rank all together; the Media Director. This time around I need you guys to not only send me a text application, but I also need you to submit your best edited video. We’re looking for an individual who can create & modify video/front page banners and is able to meet deadlines in a timely manner. You will be working directly with Journalists and communication is key. HD capture device is preferred. Multiple links to previous work is welcome as well as portfolios. All are welcome to apply. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
I want you guys to think about applications a bit differently for this position. The actual application will account for only a mere portion of your “score”. Certain factors we took note of behind the scenes, such as your behavior on the site, contributions to the site, and overall activity level all played a role in our final decision. Last time almost 80% of you were intentionally vague or used filler to talk about yourself: “I’ve been on FH for a year” when you’re trying to tell me you're right for job--that tells me very little of what you’ve actually accomplished. A better way to approach this would've been something along the lines of: “I’ve been an avid forger since the beginning of Halo 3 (lists all projects) as well as being an active TG member (motivated other people to join, etc.)” or “I’m active on MLG (lists accomplishments) and also on 343i (list accomplishments)”. This is a far better answer, as it actually tells me something about yourself. Remember, I do not know you like you know yourself, so the more information and the better you can explain to me why you’re right for the job, the better.

Ah, yes, I suppose I should inform you of what it is I am demanding your participation in, shouldn't I? Fair enough, your requests aren't too terrible... Best of Forge is one of our staple contests here on Forge Hub during which members of the community nominate their favorite maps from the previous year of Halo! This time around, we've included the last quarter of 2010, but rest assured, next time this contest comes around it'll be just the previous year's worth of creations.
Let's get some numbers up in here. We have a five subforums within our Halo: Reach map database; Competitive, Casual, Race, Minigame, and Aesthetic; for a combined total of 8215 different maps. Of that gigantic number, you, the community has chosen 52 maps to make it into the voting stage of Best of Forge! Actually, a few less--I didn't account for same-map, multi-category nominations, nor will I (because I'm lazy.) If you weren't able to participate in the nomination process, your voice can still be heard now in the voting process! Get going! Seriously, go vote!

Foreign Treasures IIA separate contest we've had running for a while now, Foreign Treasures II, is coming to a close in just TWO days. January 31st is the final day in which you are allowed to submit your maps for this contest. If you've been hard at work, chugging away like the little engine who could, chug a little harder--there will be no exceptions for people submitting their work after the deadline.
We know you've been hard at work trying to land the winner's spot with the most accurate and amazing recreation ever, so don't let your hard work go to waste! Submit your map now (or soon)!
For those of you just hearing about this competition who are curious about it (while I do believe we're too far into the game to have you produce something of quality that would be able to compete with other member's work), there's no harm in reading over the competition and keeping an eye out for the results thread in a while. I know we're all dying to see all of the submissions!
The Guilds
Let's face it. You like Halo. We all like Halo here at Forge Hub. Who'd have thought it? Anyway, the guilds here on our forums are home to many members who wish to actively contribute to the community as a whole. Interested? Thought so. You should be.
There are currently two subsections within the guild as a whole: The Tester's Guild and the Custom's Lobby. The Tester's Guild sets out to take your beta-phased maps and play them repeatedly looking for both excellence and eye-sores. If you've submitted your map here already, or are interested, don't take bad criticism personally. Take them in stride, and consider the feedback into your overall design. The Custom's Lobby is associated with our bi-weekly front page TGIF articles. If you enjoy playing Halo with a group of friends and are an aspiring writer, you should look into this side of the guild, you'll probably enjoy it.
