Here we are again, community, you wanting to read some awesome new material, and me sitting in an awkward moment when I don't really know what to write about. I know that I need an introductory paragraph to start the site update off with, but as I sit, racking my brain, nothing interesting comes about. It could be about many things; maybe Halo--but that's too obvious and has been done time and time again. After all, this is a Halo forum. I could do another overly illustrative introduction full of word fluff, but I just did that not long ago. Maybe the weather, I have been known to be quite the small talk expert, and the weather fills that category in greatly. But small talk is for strangers, and we're friends here, right? Rhetorical; we're more than friends. We could talk about school and college; finals are done, that's sure to bring about enjoyment from all of us! But ultimately that conversation won't be carried very long. What could I possibly write about here!?

My inability, I suppose; that'll do.

New Mods FTW![l-col]He's not new, actually. It's just Mr. Nibbles. He decided to change his name to NexogeN. Be sure to, I usually say congratulate or thank in this part of the paragraph, ... be sure to, uhhh, take note of this occurrence. Also watch out for his fiery ban-hammer. He is one of our forum moderators.[/l-col]

[r-col]Transhuman Plus, often known as Shuman around here, has taken leave from staff. We'll miss his Community Spotlights almost as much as much as bread missed butter when butter went on vacation. ... Terrible analogies aside, be sure to thank Shuman for the work he put forward while he was on staff!

Thanks Shuman![/r-col]

Community Participation! Our November contest results for the Fast and the Forge were just posted last night. If you haven't yet wandered over to that page, please do so. The authors of these finely crafted racetrack maps would greatly appreciate your support.

Our current contest, Foreign Treasures II, is on it's way. Be sure to get to work on your entry if you haven't already! The best maps require blood and tears from the creator. If you aren't sure what this contest is, here's a snippet from Chrstphrbrnnn.

So for those of you who haven't figured it out already Foreign Treasures is a contest geared towards bringing the sweet success of other popular shooters and bettering the already best shooter with it. The goal of this contest is to remake, to the best of your ability, a map that is featured in another popular shooter (which is featured on the list below) in Halo: Reach's forge. The map must play a 4v4 competitive setting and at least be viable for standard Team Slayer. All else is a bonus. This poses a problem though, doesn't it? What exactly is a remake?

Hub Services, At Your Service.

Are you new to ForgeHub? Do you want to make your name more well known among the Forging crowd? Or are you just looking to give a helping hand to those asking for it? Our TRC Guild is the place for you! And yes, of course, they do reward you with a pretty blue rank all your own.

What is the TRC Guild though? The TRC Guild has three subgroups: the Testers Guild, the Review Hub, and the Customs Lobby. What does the TRC Guild do? Each portion has their own specific roles in our community, as highlighted below.

Tester's Guild Member Requirements

There are five ranks in the Testers Guild. These ranks are Junior Member, Member, Senior Member, Loyal Member, and Guild Leader. All successful applicants to the guild will be placed in the rank of Junior Member after providing their first feedback in the Test Feedback forum. With each successful term, that member will gain a Gold Star for providing feedback using the correct format. In addition to this, a member will receive a Gold Star for providing multiple feedbacks (1 feedback = 1 , 2 feedbacks = 2 etc...). Members may also be rewarded an extra star for providing the Most Feedback, attending the most testing sessions and providing the Best Feedback each term or the Most Feedback.

Review Hub Member Requirements

A certain number of tasks needs to be maintained in order to be deemed active. The maintenance requirements are detailed in each rank. Accompanying the maintenance requirements are the promotion requirements. The promotion requirements outline what an individual must accomplish within their current rank to be eligible for advancement. Once the necessary requirements are met then the member is given the option to rank up. If said member chooses to stay at their current rank with the current responsibilities they are free to do so and will continue to collect pencils, but upon advancing to a new rank, pencil count returns to zero and the member must start over under the new rank's requirements. Members are not allowed to advance more than one rank per cycle.

Requirements to obtain a TGIF Host rank.

  • Host four consecutive TGIFs (that's back to back for a grand total of four TGIFs spanning eight weeks)

  • Continue a party spans a minimum of two hours

  • Submit a recap of their TGIF which consists of:

  • A two paragraph write up

  • A minimum of two pictures from their TGIF

  • At least three download links of the maps they've played

If you want to join one of the guilds, but the snippets above didn't help you narrow your decision, be sure to read the full articles. They go over all of the responsibilities in each respective thread.

The Custom's Lobby members, referred to as TGIF Hosts, host bi-weekly custom games. There isn't a thread dedicated to the discussion of this matter though. If you would like to work your way toward, or maintain your TGIF Host rank, please PM Pegasi with the template below filled out.

[HOST'S PARTY NAME]

Host's Gamertag: [HOST'S GAMERTAG]
Start Time: [0:00pm EST]
End Time: [0:00pm EST]
Rules: [PARTY RULES]
Schedule:

  • [PARTY SCHEDULE]

In case you missed it last week, a message from Pegasi regarding the TGIF Host rank.

I'd like to take a moment to remind all those who hold, or who hope to hold, the TGIF rank about the importance of their Recaps. Whilst the primary focus is obviously the Party itself, we require Recaps from those holding the TGIF Host rank as it helps give the community an insight on what goes in to a good TGIF party; showing those who may not be familiar with the night what they are missing out on and outlining how enjoyable each different Party can be.
As such, I'd like to reiterate that it is each host's responsibility to provide me with a Recap of their party by the following Tuesday at the very latest. Recaps must include a minimum of two paragraphs of text and two screenshots from Party. To clarify: the onus is on each host to provide their recap without having to be chased up, and moving forward I will be placing a much stronger emphasis on requiring recaps to either gain or maintain the TGIF Host rank. This is a prestige rank, and as such the requirements for gaining and holding it must be taken seriously. If you are currently a TGIF Host or aim to be promoted, I advise that you bear the above in mind as failure to maintain Recaps will jeopardise your rank in the same way as missing the Parties themselves would.
However, I would not like this to detract from the appreciation we have for those who keep the TGIF banner flying. Without our hosts, this staple Forge Hub event would not be able to continue, and I'd simply like to use this as an opportunity to remind hosts about something which has become an issue of late. Thanks for your time.

Small Words of the Site UpdateLast week Chrs asked for some feedback about ForgeHub, while they were mostly trollsome (is that a word?), there were a few that were serious. And we shall be taking note of these behind the scenes. Thank you!

Late at night, sleep not to be had, the morn waits--yet seems to be too far to bear. The gifts sit near the tree just out there, they wait as well. They wish to be open, they wish to be free. For they have sat in their dark for weeks now. Those who have their name on the box dream of what could be in them. That day is not far off now, soon it will be here. Soon they will be free.

Whether you realized it or not, the quote above is comprised of all one syllable words. It's true, read it again if you don't believe me! Last semester in one of my composition classes my professor asked us all to produce an entire paper of one syllable words. It's more difficult than you would imagine, yet it's a fun writing exercise.

I would like you all to craft a simple paragraph, about the holiday season, using ONLY one syllable words. If you find this difficult, a single sentence will do. But extra kudos will be given where extra kudos are deserved.

KGO!

KBYE!

If you have any thoughts on this article, or the front page in general, that you would like to share with us then we invite you to post your opinions in the Front Page Feedback thread.
