Quick guys, in here. Shhh, I'm not supposed to be here right now and if Noxiw finds out I'll be in big trouble. No, that's a lie. Noxiw knows I'm here and it wasn't without great pain that he elected to take this week off. School gets to even the best of us I suppose. Never fear though, Sir Noxiw will return next cycle on his golden steed to bring you the righteous news of Ye Olde Hub. Enough about next time though, we've still got to get through this time! On with the news.

Pegasi Needs You!

...to do your jobs. Jokes aside, we value you all very dearly as our wonderful TGIF Hosts. However, as part of the role dictates when one is donned in blue, TGIF Hosts must submit their TGIF recaps in order to maintain their ranks. For the most part you guys have done a great job both as hosts and wordsmiths. However, it is still a requirement for all hosts to submit their reviews so that Pegasi can effectively write the recap on time. For more on the subject, let us hear form Peg himself.

I'd like to take a moment to remind all those who hold, or who hope to hold, the TGIF rank about the importance of their Recaps. Whilst the primary focus is obviously the Party itself, we require Recaps from those holding the TGIF Host rank as it helps give the community an insight on what goes in to a good TGIF party; showing those who may not be familiar with the night what they are missing out on and outlining how enjoyable each different Party can be.

As such, I'd like to reiterate that it is each host's responsibility to provide me with a Recap of their party by the following Tuesday at the very latest. Recaps must include a minimum of two paragraphs of text and two screenshots from Party. To clarify: the onus is on each host to provide their recap without having to be chased up, and moving forward I will be placing a much stronger emphasis on requiring recaps to either gain or maintain the TGIF Host rank. This is a prestige rank, and as such the requirements for gaining and holding it must be taken seriously. If you are currently a TGIF Host or aim to be promoted, I advise that you bear the above in mind as failure to maintain Recaps will jeopardise your rank in the same way as missing the Parties themselves would.

However, I would not like this to detract from the appreciation we have for those who keep the TGIF banner flying. Without our hosts, this staple Forge Hub event would not be able to continue, and I'd simply like to use this as an opportunity to remind hosts about something which has become an issue of late. Thanks for your time.

But enough with the negative talk..

Capping the Recap

While the recap may have missed its mark last week that doesn't mean we want our hosts' hard work to go unnoticed. This is why we've made a special section just for this past weeks recaps so every can relive all the exciting TGIF actions. Pop the spoiler below to get the whole story.

My first TGIF as a loyal was perhaps THE BEST LOBBY EVVARR!!!

For this TGIF, Crypto and I joined forces in the hope of creating a better lobby and boy did it work! Although we averaged close to a full lobby for the whole night, we started the night off with around 6 of us on Rent-a-Car and the party just got bigger and bigger from then on. Thanks to Sky, Flying shoe, onyx melon and the other original members for getting us started.

Once the party had grown a little to a respectable size I thought a game of FWOT was in order. This time though I took a risk on a map I hadn't played before called bridgeland valley and I have to say I (and the party as well I think) enjoyed it immensely. All the usual highlights of FWOT ensued and the destruction littering blood gulch was impressive:

The flaming gulch as it is now known

At this point, the party requested some BTB competitive action and so of course I obliged. Flying Shoe asked if we could play the final version of his map Embarcadero and who am I to deny such an accomplished forger a chance to show off his newest work? An awesome game of one flag ensued and although I was on the back of a complete pasting, it was impossible not to have fun on this map.

A quick breather on Hex (as if you could relax in such a manic race) followed:

What could go wrong here?

Once again BTB was requested and so I hit the party with my map winterfell which is still under testing. Although I came away with many points of improvement (not least a respawn cam pointed straight at a leaf), fun was still to be had as the many angles of attack made for an interesting one flag game.

The anniversary magnum is definitely over powered.

It was at this point that crypto felt the need, the need for speed and put on a game I hadn't played before called 'monkeying around' which involves super-speed, evade, rockets and a barrel shaped arena. Yes, it was fun.

Faceplant in 5..4..3..

A couple of hours of more mini-games followed and my role in the party was over as it was getting late here in Britain. A heroic last man standing survival on hogs from heck was a fitting end to a brilliant TGIF.

See you in a fortnight!

Well, this was my first TGIF since my 18 hour Halo Community Charity Marathon party. My xbox broke but I have finally bought a new one and am glad to be back in the hosting buisiness. There is plenty of new members who are in need of a nice, long really fun party and I intend to give them just that.

Unfortunately, this party was not one of those parties. I had a very low amount of people this time around but I expect it will be better next time. We played quite a few race maps that were really fun, namely The Thunder Barrel which is weird, because its a roller coaster which don't usually work to well with larger groups. This one was great though! Also, a ton of people had never seen Labyrinth Of The Destructaur so that was a lot of fun too. I'm hoping next TGIF will filled with more people and just generally more fun. Here are two different angles of the recap picture we took, I like how this one turned out:

well my tgif started off alot better than usuall with eight people on Crash-Up-Derby

then we played some seriusly colorful race map from mario recreated in reach called rainbow road, but no cheaters allowed.

then when the party hit its peak at 16 players we played some goosechase stadium an it was actually really fun just because of all the times you would come close to being in the objective then just get blown in the air or shot through the objective but on the last one my team needed, i was shot into the air because someone shot the fusion coil below me and i just went and did a nice little backflip into it to end the game.

Hey all once again! This week was my most successful lobby, a full lobby for the most part spanning five hours! That's five hours of pure custom game fun playing anything from Race to Infection to Slayer! I wanted to make sure this was a great lobby, and it was to me. I should be getting my TGIF Host Title with this lobby so thanks to all who attended ^_^ . Something else happened to... an unexpected return from Cryptokid I heard, and he joined me and ran a dual - host with me, and it worked out pretty fine. I got to give him props, I heard he was a great host, and from what I see, he was! But enough with the modesty, let's get down to the recap. The lobby grew rather fast, with eight players in the first game via invites, and then eventually, maybe by the third game we had a full lobby going! I don't know how many messages I got for invites, but considering I'm still pretty new to this, having any backhaul of constant invite messages is great! Soon, cryptokid joined and requested a dual - host, which I promptly accepted, and don't regret. We played things like Run for your Life, CQC Slayer by Sinless Legend, Death Track by me, and a bunch of aesthetically pleasing race maps like Origin of Symmetry. I apologize for the lack of pics, but I think I've summarized rather clearly. Let's get down to those pics:

This is Cryptokid on the Gauss Hog on my map Death Track

Dear Zombie, prepare for annihilation :D

Cool guys . . . jump over explosions.

Well guys thanks for reading my recap, I'm looking forward to hosting more lobbies os awesomeness! Check out my lobby in the next TGIF, until then, see ya guys!

Hubs and Stuff

This was a tough section. I hope you all appreciate my hard work and dedication to the site. Enjoy.

Are you new to ForgeHub? Do you want to make your name more well known among the Forging crowd? Or are you just looking to give a helping hand to those asking for it? Our TRC Guild is the place for you! And yes, of course, they do reward you with a pretty blue rank all your own.

What is the TRC Guild though? The TRC Guild has three subgroups: the Testers Guild, the Review Hub, and the Customs Lobby. What does the TRC Guild do? Each portion has their own specific roles in our community, as highlighted below.

Tester's Guild Member Requirements

There are five ranks in the Testers Guild. These ranks are Junior Member, Member, Senior Member, Loyal Member, and Guild Leader. All successful applicants to the guild will be placed in the rank of Junior Member after providing their first feedback in the Test Feedback forum. With each successful term, that member will gain a Gold Star for providing feedback using the correct format. In addition to this, a member will receive a Gold Star for providing multiple feedbacks (1 feedback = 1 , 2 feedbacks = 2 etc...). Members may also be rewarded an extra star for providing the Most Feedback, attending the most testing sessions and providing the Best Feedback each term or the Most Feedback.

Read the full article on Tester's Guild requirements here.

Review Hub Member Requirements

A certain number of tasks needs to be maintained in order to be deemed active. The maintenance requirements are detailed in each rank. Accompanying the maintenance requirements are the promotion requirements. The promotion requirements outline what an individual must accomplish within their current rank to be eligible for advancement. Once the necessary requirements are met then the member is given the option to rank up. If said member chooses to stay at their current rank with the current responsibilities they are free to do so and will continue to collect pencils, but upon advancing to a new rank, pencil count returns to zero and the member must start over under the new rank's requirements. Members are not allowed to advance more than one rank per cycle.

Requirements to obtain a TGIF Host rank.

  • Host four consecutive TGIFs (that's back to back for a grand total of four TGIFs spanning eight weeks)

  • Continue a party spans a minimum of two hours

  • Submit a recap of their TGIF which consists of:

  • A two paragraph write up

  • A minimum of two pictures from their TGIF

  • At least three download links of the maps they've played

If you want to join one of the guilds, but the snippets above didn't help you narrow your decision, be sure to read the full articles. They go over all of the responsibilities in each respective thread.

The Custom's Lobby members, referred to as TGIF Hosts, host bi-weekly custom games. There isn't a thread dedicated to the discussion of this matter though. If you would like to work your way toward, or maintain your TGIF Host rank, please PM Pegasi with the template below filled out.

Contests Rollin' On

We have a busy section here tonight. First, I must mention the wrap up of The Fast and the Forge. Once again, you forgers came through with your awesome maps and this contest was a joy to judge. So with that said look out for the full results post this week. Congratulations to the winners (once you know who you are) and thank you for the great participation.

We're not done here though. As many of you have already noticed, a new contest cropped up on the front page last evening. A staple of Forge Hub contests, the Treasures series, returns once more with its Foreign iteration. This time, forgers, you won't be remaking Halo maps, but rather you will be robbing all the goods from its competitors. The goal of Foreign Treasures is to craft the best remake you possibly can from one of the various popular shooters listed in contest rules. It has been a year and a half since the last time we've seen Foreign Treasures and we're looking forward to seeing you all create a follow up to Sentinel, Best of Halo 3's Forge Overall winner and the original Foreign Treasures first place. For all details please see the official contest post here.

Quiz Time

Last week Noxiw asked you to write a Haiku. Unfortunately, none of you are poets. Thus I had to default to Rorak Kuroda because he wins everything. I'm just kidding with yall, there were some great ones...but I still just defaulted to Kuroda.

Surfing on pallets
Flying in metallic blimps
The essence of forge

Enough living in the past it's time for this weeks question. So I ask you community, "If you could change one thing about Forge Hub, what would it be?".

I Challenge You!

I challenge you all to some special. I suppose this could have been part of the QOTSU but I wanted to give you a question as well. This challenge, while simple, does have relevance. However, you won't find out until further into the future exactly what that relevance is. For now I just want you to worry about one thing: this challenge. So, I would like you all to go out into the community, delve through the catacombs of the forums and locate what you believe are the three best maps created since the beginning of the Reach era. Then, I want you to come back here and post em. I just want to hear your guys' thoughts. So get your headlamps and get going!

Goodbyes Are Bittersweet

Well friends, it's time for me to head off into the sunset. It has been nice seeing you all again, under these circumstances. I can't wait to hear all your answers and you map choices. Everyone have a great holiday season and so long!

If you have any thoughts on this article, or the front page in general, that you would like to share with us then we invite you to post your opinions in the Front Page Feedback thread.
