2v2 Throwdown Round 12

I'd like to start with an apology for this article's tardy nature as it was supposed to be posted yesterday along with Replicant. Fresh of posting said featured map, I set to finishing this article up only to have my internet make a hasty and sustained departure. Being as it was gone 4AM over on this side of the pond, I took the hint and postponed until tonight.

The competition only sees a pair of matches this week, as only two teams remain in the Winner Bracket, ready to lock horns in the WBFinals, along with another two teams fighting it out in the LBSemis for a chance to take on the loser of the WBFinals match next week. This week also sees Skylimit's only round in play, as a new map enters for the LBFinals next week in a break from the two-week map cycle employed so far in the tournament, more on that new map below. It's also time to throw Stevo a bone and remind all players still participating in the tournament to upload the matches they play to their fileshare and submit them in the Throwdown Media Thread. With only four teams left in the tournament, one would hope they're able to find their match threads, but here goes the rundown again anyway:

  • Matches for Round 12 have now been posted in the Championship Bracket Board.

  • If you were in the Winners Bracket during Round 10 and won your match, you continue in the Winners Bracket.

  • If you were in the Losers Bracket during Round 11 and won your match, you continue in the Losers Bracket.

  • If you were in the Losers Bracket during Round 11 and lost your match, you have been eliminated from the tournament.

  • You must organise your match in your designated match thread, the proper process for which is detailed in the thread. Remember, matches are best of 3 games, all of which must use the official Throwdown gametype on the specified map for the respective round.

  • Matches must be played and the results posted (with Bungie.net game link as proof) by Midnight EST on Sunday the 30th of October.

As always, we would like to emphasise how it is each team's responsibility to do all they can to contact and organise a time with their opponents, as in cases where the match is not played it is in your interests to prove that you made every effort possible, thereby avoiding the forfeit. We would also like to remind contestants that any issues or complaints made against an opponent should (if relevant) be accompanied by a saved film of the game in question, uploaded to a file share and linked in the message. Complaints, issues or questions can be sent in a Personal message to myself. For convenience, here are the links to the gametype and map for Round 12:

With two rounds remaining after this week, we've decided to bring you two new maps rather than the one which the release cycle so far would dictate. We feel that these last three rounds deserve their own respective arenas and are using them to showcase as much of the forging talent we have behind this tournament as possible. Replicant uses the clean, dark atmosphere of the colliseum to craft a striking aesthetic, but don't let that (or the two Hologram AA pickups) distract you during your games. This map is worth a download for competitors and spectators alike.

http://www.astrogaming.com/Three rounds left for our remaining players, and all but one of our remaining teams at this stage will place in the top 3; prize territory. All are obviously gunning for first place, but knowing that you're two or three games away from securing a well earned reward must feel pretty good all the same. Be sure to watch this space for updates on match results and the final map, as well as some video goodness once the tournament is complete.

If you have any thoughts on this article, or the front page in general, that you would like to share with us then we invite you to post your opinions in the Front Page Feedback thread.
