2v2 Throwdown Round 2

Thanks to some stirling work from the one and only Shock Theta, the match threads for Round 2 are now ready and waiting in the Bracket Boards. You'll notice that the Loser Bracket sub-boards are now populated with match threads, this is because the teams have now been split in to the two brackets which form the double elimination basis of the tournament. The group in which your team is placed remains the same as it was for Round 1, and if you won your Round 1 match then you will remain in the Winners Bracket, but if you lost then you have moved down to the Loser Bracket in your respective group. If a team loses a match whilst in the Losers Bracket, they are out of the tournament. So if this concerns you then it's time to knuckle down, especially since you'll be playing matches every week from now on, whereas teams who remain in the Winners Bracket will only have to play the even numbered rounds. That's right, if you've stuck it out in the Winners Bracket after Round 1 and you manage to win your Round 2 matchup, you will have a week's rest during Round 3 before kicking off again in Round 4.

Bringing things firmly back in to the present and Round 2, here's how you should go about organising your match for Round 2:

  • Navigate to your group in the Bracket Boards. If you won your Round 1 match then your Round 2 match will be posted in the main Winner Bracket board, if you lost then it will be posted in the Loser Bracket sub-board.

  • Remember, matches are best of 3 games, all of which must use the official Throwdown gametype on the specified map for the respective round.

  • Matches must be played and the results posted (with Bungie.net game link as proof) by Midnight EST on Sunday the 21st of August.

As always, would like to emphasise how it is each team's responsibility to do all they can to contact and organise a time with their opponents, as in cases where the match is not played it is in your interests to prove that you made every effort possible, thereby avoiding the forfeit. We would also like to remind contestants that any issues or complaints made against an opponent should (if relevant) be accompanied by a saved film of the game in question, uploaded to a file share and linked in the message. Complaints, issues or questions can be sent in a Personal message to myself. For convenience, here are the links to the gametype and map for Round 2:

http://www.astrogaming.com/We're now kicking off the dual-bracket format which will form the rest of the tournament, and soon enough it'll feel like second nature. New maps will continue to be released at the start of odd numbered rounds, a week in advance of the two rounds for which it will be used. For example, the next map will be released as Round 3 starts, and will be used for Rounds 4 and 5. The next map will be released as Round 5 begins and used for Rounds 6 and 7, etc. Be on the lookout for new Throwdown map features at the start of these odd numbered rounds, so you can make the most of your practice time and learn the maps as much as possible.

Keep your eyes on the prize and as always, good luck!
