2v2 Throwdown Round 1

Today sees the start of Forge Hub's long awaited 2v2 Throwdown tournament, with the brackets having been released earlier today and match threads following suit so you can start organising your games and get stuck in to Round 1 of the competition. If you haven't already done so, you need to find out which of the 8 groups you're in so you can move forward with your match. To do this:

  • Check the Groups Announcement in the 2v2 Throwdown boards. Find your team name on the list, your group is the number in the far right column.

  • You should then navigate to the corresponding sub-board in the Bracket Boards. Here you will find threads for each Round 1 match in your group. The team names for each match are clearly detailed in the thread titles, so you should have no trouble finding yours.

  • You must then proceed to organise and play your match, the proper process for which is detailed in the thread. Remember, matches are best of 3 games, all of which must use the official Throwdown gametype on the specified map for the respective round.

  • Matches must be played and the results posted (with Bungie.net game link as proof) by Midnight EST on Sunday the 14th of August.

We would like to emphasise once again how it is each team's responsibility to do all they can to contact and organise a time with their opponents, as in cases where the match is not played it is in your interests to prove that you made every effort possible, thereby avoiding the forfeit. We would also like to remind contestants that any issues or complaints made against an opponent should (if relevant) be accompanied by a saved film of the game in question, uploaded to a file share and linked in the message. Complaints, issues or questions can be sent in a Personal message to myself. For convenience, here are the links to the gametype and map for Round 1:

It's taken a while to get here, but as the competition gets underway we'd like to wish good luck to all the contestants, and we look forward to watching our first Halo: Reach tournament unfold.

As you play your Round 1 matches during the next week, we'd also heavily advise trying to get as much practice as possible on the Round 2 map: Haze. Maps will be released one week in advance of the round in which they will be used, giving teams time to familiarise themselves with each arena before having to play their official matches. Only even numbered rounds will feature a new map, meaning they will be released every two weeks. Be sure to check them out as soon as possible to get a head start on practice.
