So I've finally managed to preorder my copy of Halo: Reach Legendary edition. It was going to be a few more weeks until I was back in school so I decided to use the excuse of inebriation and a sleep deprived weekend to get up to my city to preorder Reach. However, I couldn't leave all my avid readers high and dry; so despite my combined five hours of sleep this weekend, I managed to drag myself to the car for the four hour trip back home, all so I can report to you Forge Hub. With that being said, I think it's time we got to this update. Things may be a bit more mild on our side of things this week, but it doesn't mean there isn't anything to talk about.
Joining the Cool Kids
After the last update I personally thought this section deserved a bit of a break. However it appears as if our very loyal Hubbers can't allow that. Conkerkid11, CombatGam3r and Nibs have all joined the purplest rank around for their hard work and dedication to the Testers Guild. Make sure to congratulate and thank these guys for making the Testers Guild what it is.
More From the Mean Pants Team
If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm talking about the Review Hub; those guys who are working hard to make sure that your day just doesn't go quite as well as you had planned. I heard American Idol had actually interviewed a few of the members for a possible Simon Cowell replacement. Anyway, for those of you who are new to the site and would like to try their hand at the Review Hub you can always apply here. Otherwise you should check out the reviews listed below.
Detum Asylum : 7.6/10 - Organite
Flag Frenzy : 7.6/10 - MickRaider
Concealed : 4.6/10 - Death Yoyo
Culmination : 7.8/10 - MickRaider
Omega : 4.6/10 - Noxiw
The Turbines : 6.5/10 - Organite
Testers Guild Got Yo Back
With Reach fast approaching Forge will soon be in full swing. With such an awesome Forge mode in Reach there will be a lot of awesome maps. With a lot of awesome maps there will need to be testing done and thus, you will need the Testers Guild. You should take these last few weeks to get acquainted with the Testers Guild and its routines and if you’d like to stop on over to the Testers Guild to join or just give them your thanks, you can check it out here. Otherwise you can always check out their feedback and see what they’re saying about some soon to be released maps.
One Best of Forge to Rule Them All
If you missed the memo, Best of Forge is back for its last hurrah in Halo 3. However, we've shaken up the standard formula this time and allowed any map in the history of Forge Hub. This allows you to nominate your favorites from Foundry '07 right up to August 3rd, 2010. If you haven't taken the opportunity to nominate some maps, why not read the announcement thread here and then head on over to the nominations forum. Nominations close on the 28th of August.
Never Out of Touch
It has come to our attention that many of our users are not currently happy with community connectivity. They want to be involved all the time; to know when we're eating, sleeping or staring out the window instead of paying attention in class. Actually I made that bit up but I also made the official Forge Hub Twitter. We'll be letting you know what is up with articles, contests and the site in general as well as posting reminders and linking you to some sweet articles found around the vast Halo community. Check us out @ForgeHubTweets.
We Need to Talk
Oh, that's never good and it isn't good this time either. Well, it's not that bad but more of a simple reminder about Front Page etiquette. We've recently noticed some disagreements over what maps have been featured. It's completely okay for you to have opinions on what we do, and if you were satisfied with a map feature it is completely alright for you to say so in the map feature thread. However, you should expect a response as we typically are going to justify our decision (we kind of take it like you are keeping us on our toes). This isn't the problem, but what has become an issue is debates over systems and community involvement; these are also perfectly fine and can be had, but are to be had in the appropriate place. Sharing your disagreement with our featuring methods in the most recently featured map is not okay. Discussions such as that should take place in the Front Page Feedback thread, which is also conveniently linked at the bottom of every article. We're typically lenient on what type of post can be had in Announcements and Features, but when it comes to directly off topic posts, you are spamming. Furthermore, before you complain about what maps we are featuring you should probably check out this thread. Maybe you just forgot to post that recommendation of yours, because I don't see it there.
The Final Countdown
So before I sign off on the worst Site Update I've ever written I thought I'd remind you all that August 18th Bungie will be at Gamescon and we should be hearing another pants-changer. Then it's just straight sailing (anal Conkerkid says: PAX) until Reach. However I am really tired so y'all have a good night now.
