May 9th, 2010

The sun shines through the clouds, breaking the monotonous rain that’s been threatening to flood the town of Alexa. The brown leaves are matted onto the cement, unable to move, frozen, torn and battered. An old lady crossing the street at her own pace, as if she were in her own world, gets a nasty surprise when a gust of wind topples over her shopping cart into the middle of the street. She hastily hoards all of her groceries in her arm and attempts to pick up the cart at the same time, resulting in everything falling to the ground once again. The other pedestrians do not even turn an eye to this old lady because they are blinded by their status - they are rich, she is not. They would never lift a hand to someone as poor as her. Why would they? They might catch something from her; something nasty, like the swine flu or maybe even a flesh eating disease. A young man wearing all white emerges from the crowd: white pants, white socks, white shoes, a white shirt, well his hair is brown and peppering but that doesn't count now does it? He kneels next to the lady scrambling to pick up all of her groceries. At first she neglects to even see him kneeling next to her. As he picks up a can of beans she hastily grabs it from his hand, giving him a blank stare followed by a warming smile. She straightens her back and lets the young man help her with all of her groceries. The young man speaks and says “I've always found it in my heart to help someone who is in need and at a time when no one will help. I’ve come to you, let get of your hatred, you are not alone and I will always be with you. Be nice to thy neighbor, to absolute strangers, and everyone else in between and your kindness will be given back.”

Halo 3 Tricks Finale

CMNeir writes,

Halo 3 Tricks started over 2 years ago and has had an amazing run. But it really all began in 2005 with Halo 2 Tricks, where a simple tutorial video on Tank Pinball spurred a series that would last up to almost 5 years! It is really mind boggling when you think about it. Even to this day, I never thought I would get this far. It has been because of you, the fans, that has kept us going for this long. We thank you for that.

Our experience during Halo Tricks will never be forgotten and it will help us with future projects we take on. We've had a good ride, and Im glad most of you stuck with us till the end. We'll miss Halo 3 Tricks and Halo 3, but Reach is on its way, so we have that to look forward to.

So with that, CM-XWing Films is proud to present the finale of Halo 3 Tricks!

Check out the Finale's thread HERE for the vid, make sure you give it a good rating on youtube and most of all, be sure to congratulate these fine fellows on their outstanding series and major contributions to the Halo community in general! Well done, sirs.

Screenshot of the Week - Special Reach Beta Edition

Community member Orange has been running the popular Screenshot of the Week Contest for some time now, and there's been some seriously epic Halo-goodness come from it. Now, with our new shiny toy to play with (otherwise known as the Halo: Reach Multiplayer Beta... you may have heard of it), we have a very special opportunity to make some of the first ever Halo Screenshot art from what will ultimately be Bungie's last chapter in the Halo universe. Competition is already looking pretty stiff, so make sure you bring your A-game. Luckily for you, this special edition contest will run for the entire length of the Beta, so you still have time to capture that epic moment and craft it into a winning composition.

See Orange's thread HERE for more information and to submit your entry. The lucky winner will get his screenshot forever immortalized in an upcoming Site Update! Go forth and photograph, Spartans.

TGIF: Reach

Go tell the Spartans passerby, that here by Spartan law, Forge Hub kicked major Reach Multiplayer ass!

We figured some of you might be interested in playing that new Halo game a bit, so we decided to dust off the good 'ol TGIF for the duration of the Multiplayer Beta in its honor. This past Friday saw 8 parties roll deep into Reach's Matchmaking wreaking havoc on unsuspecting souls... or ourselves, all night long. Missed out? Well you're in luck because we'll be running even deeper this week! With the new Invasion and the upcoming Network Test 1 (Generator Defense), this Beta hasn't even hit it's full stride yet. Make sure you keep your eyes keen to our front page for your chance to sign up and participate.

Do the Right Thing

Did you tell your Mother you love her yet today? You do know its Mother's Day, right? Its okay, you can go do it now, I'll wait-

...Back yet? Well done. She deserves some quality attention today for putting up with you and your insatiable desire for gaming and teh Hal0z. Its the least you could do. That's it from us this time, Hubbers. Stay cool and get you some Reach in while it lasts. I know I will be!

P.S. Quick shoutout to RightSideTheory for the sweet new featured maps banners he's churning out. For an example, check out the recently featured Aerocrest. Keep it up, dude.

If you have any thoughts on this article, or the front page in general, that you would like to share with us then we invite you to post your opinions in the Front Page Feedback thread.
