Welcome avid readers to the Forge Hub community Spotlight. Here we highlight some of the shiny stars, as well as under looked talents, using anything from inquisitive interviews, to map highlights and anything else that we feel has gone without enough notice. This week on the Community Spotlight we have jakob hunter, the recent winner of Forge Hub's Wonders of the World contest. See what he has to say about his contest win and other Forge Hub stuff below.
An age old question of the spotlights, but how was it that you first found your way to Forge Hub?
I first found my way to Forge Hub by hearing about it from a friend from my school.
-After spending time on Forge Hub what has become your favorite aspect of the site?
My favorite aspect of the site has to be just the countless number of people with great map and game ideas all at one place sharing their work.
-Everyone got started somehow so what was it that first interested you in Forge?
As a child I grew up with toys like building blocks and Legos and I would always be building new things that I dug up from the deepest depths of my imagination, and with Forge I still get to do that.
-And with that start, what was your first map like?
My first map was made way back before I had xbox live, it was on Narrows and was almost every single weapon all in the middle of the map surrounded by tele-porters that lead you to your death if you go through, but one teleporter sneakily hidden behind stacked crates leads the player to the weapons.
-There are many different types of Forgers out there. What aspect of Forge has interested you the most and why?
I would have to say the casual and mini-game departments because of the endless possibilities of new and creative gametypes people can create just to have fun with.
-Though most know for your statue, what are some of the other maps maps forged by you like?
Most of my maps are for infection (mostly for my gametype PANDEMIC) I have also built two for rifte gifle's ASSET and a few for competitive purposes. Right now I am working on a new gametype and maps for that as-well.
-So Wonders of the World; what caused you to want to enter?
I decided to enter the contest because I have had the idea for a large statue in my mind several months before and when the contest showed itself to me it gave me the reason I needed to make the sculpture.
-That's a pretty badass statue you won with, how did you do it?
With the advanced forging techniques such as ghost merging and many different pictures of the Colossus I just needed time and creativity, I also had to redo certain features such as the head and arms several times to make them proportional to the body.
-The first entry and first place, how does that feel?
It feels just, EXCELLENT!
-Out of all the possible wonders, why did you choose Colossus of Rhodes?
I chose the Colossus of Rhodes just because of the sheer awesomeness of the Greek sculptures, and because the Colossus was the most epic of them all and one of the two that are part of the Wonders of the Ancient World.
-With Reach fast approaching, do you plan on continuing to forge?
I definitely plan on Forging in Reach.
-With all the information seen so far, what aspect of Reach are you most excited for?
I am most excited for all the new weapons, features, and game modes in multiplayer and for hopefully new Forge tools as-well.
-Finally, a bit about your personal life. What do you like to do outside the Hub?
I am into drawing and painting, playing basketball, eating hot wings, and chillin with friends.
