January 3rd, 2010
Happy New Year Hubbers! Its a brand new decade, and with it, comes a great mixture of reflection and anticipation. It was an incredible year for Halo, and even more-so, an incredible year for forge. Our craft has come a long way in the past year, and as awesome as its been, we're equally excited to see where it goes. In case you've been under a rock for the last few months and thought you'd check up on the good 'ol Hub for old times sake, you may want to jump on over and see what all this Ghost Merging buzz is about. In the eyes of a forger, its the best thing since sliced bread. We're ripe and ready to see what 2010 holds for Forge Hub, and the Halo community as a whole. As the season turns and springtime creeps our way, the anticipation for Bungie's newest development and last Halo installment brews greater and greater with each moment. Soon, Halo: Reach's media embargo will lift, and shortly after follows the multiplayer beta. These are exciting times, fellow halo fiends. We hope you'll spend it with us here at the Hub!
Promotions/Demotions
This update sees moderating veterans Orangeremi and Grif hang up the banhammer and don the purple once more, returning to the rank of Loyal. A big thanks to both of them for their tireless efforts in keeping the site clean for all our users. Their shoes don't stand empty, however, and former Journalist iRaynne has taken up the blue robes, assuming the rank of Moderator.

Wonders of the World
The deadline for our Wonders of the World is fast approaching, and you have 10 days from this update to finish your entries and submit them in the appropriate thread. But come on guys, you don't have to account for testing time with these babies, and 10 days is plenty of time if you haven't already decided to enter. Why not sit down in Forge to try and net yourself a custom title and a front page Feature for your map? You can check out the contest announcement thread here, and the submission thread is right around here. Get moving!
Banner Contest Mk. II
We've grown tired of the boring text header that now resides at the top of TGIF announcements, and we've finally decided to do something about it. That is to say we're tapping in to the cheap mass labour of you, our beloved community, to do the job for us. As with the Site Update banner contest, the winner will nab themselves a custom title and, of course, the sight of their own creation at the top of all future TGIF announcements. If you think you're the man for the job then position your cursor here and poke the left doodad.
Whilst we're on the subject...
We'd like to mention the recent TGIF. Our staple community event has suffered from somewhat of a lull in recent weeks, but TGIF #47 saw a return to form. We'd like to thank those who took part, and remind all that TGIF always has been and still is the embodiment of what Forge Hub is about in so many ways: Forging and Community brought together through custom nights.
Return of Forge Hub Favorites
For those who don't remember Forge Hub Favorites, it was a Staff run fileshare updated every couple of weeks which contained a select pick of maps and, in some cases, accompanying game types from around the map forums. The real difference maker here is that you, the community, choose what gets in for every two week period. This Sunday will see the return of Forge Hub Favorites and a thread explaining the procedure and getting the voting process kicked off will be posted then, keep an eye out.
Enjoy the new year
That about does it for our first update of 2010, and we'd like to wish all of you a happy new year before we sign off for another two weeks. We'd also like to remind all of you to check out the Front Page Feedback thread and let us know your thoughts on all of our Front Page content.
