Forge Hub vs Halo 3 in the Work PLace

Halo 3 in the Work PLace (yes, the "L" is supposed to be capitalized... kinda) is a steadfast Bungie.net group comprised of some of the more seasoned Halo players. They take pride in putting in a full work day (and sneaking on to BNet when the boss has his/her back turned), then throwing down some quality Halo with players of a finer vintage. A private group that started way back in January of 2008, H3ITWP has really flourished. They've seen more than their fair share of Bungie Blog time, they're closing in on 200 members, and they host weekly custom game nights as well as some side contests for their members, along with some great meaningful discussion, with a heaping helping of lolz to boot. Oh, and did we mention they have girls, there? O.o

OK, OK, calm down. Wipe that drool up and check out just how we took it to 'em.

Team Forge Hub
Shad0w Viper - needz moar needles
Chipsinabox - not in a bag, dammit

Joeski73 - Insert joke about pooping on Urk/DeathPIMP
A Ghuta - The Spin Doctor
Der Todesengel - <--- what?

Game 1: One Flag BRs on Bulwark

The first match we duked it out on was MADMAN Redux's Bulwark. An asymmetrical skybox map catered towards one-sided objectives. A beautifully crafted map, no doubt... even with ample blood stains strewn about. The game was fast paced and adrenaline-filled. Both teams had some real nice last second flag returns that ultimately set a pretty high competitive precedent that would be carried on for the remainder of the event. H3ITWP clearly had us out strategized, having loads more map experience than us... but our guns were bigger (slightly). The difference ended up being a last ditch effort in Team FH's 2nd attacking round which barely netted up a flag cap in sudden death time. It was the perfect opening match. High intensity and right down to the wire. Great game, fellas.

Final Score:
Team Forge Hub: 2
H3ITWP: 1

Hand Crafted, Battle Approved.

Game 2:
Team Slayer BRs on Pivotal

This match could probably be summed up in only 5 words. Shad0w pwns all with Needler. Seriously, 10 Needler kills. I got 10 kills total! With a backpack big enough for Shock, Chips, and myself to all sit comfortably in, Shad0w carried us to victory against a team of Work PLacers that included the map's creator himself, Joeski. Hey, at least you went positive, right Joeski?

Final Score:
Team Forge Hub: 50
H3ITWP: 39

That one map you played on Bungie Day

Game 3:
One Flag BRs on Antique

Thoroughly humbled on their own home courts, and with one last chance at redemption, H3ITWP throws up Ibemeubeu's Relic inspired map, Antique. An incredible change of pace from the two previous skybox maps. With the Work PLacers' superior map knowledge and nothing left to lose, we knew we were in for a good one, despite coming off such a convincing victory. Our pre-SNF forgethrough on the Antique proved mighty helpful in the opening round, when we loaded up the Hog as quick as our little spartan feet would let us and promptly returned their flag back to our base in under a minute. Unfortunately for us, thats about the last positive thing we managed to do that game.

And now, a word from Ghuta, aka the spin doctor, recapping the rest of the match:

It was lights out, but the red team was wary of the inevitable attack from the lords of forging on the blue squad. Their mission: steal our flag. Our mission: do whatever it takes to stop them. Immediately the blue teams reaches into their bag of tricks. Their plan: do the exact same thing they did last round. Looked good on paper, but the Workplace has seen that before.

They steamed full speed into our base. Their first attempt ended when a little team fire from Venom and Joeski allowed Der to go wild with his fists. (Hog Fails... by beatdown!) All that was left was a driver with his tail between is legs, running for the cover with a beat up bumper.

Like true spartans the the blue team decided to regroup. Anyone within range of the enemy would have heard the driver call out, "I need a gunner!". Recon came. Another Recon came. Three Recons in a hog... ZZZOMG... someone take a picture...who can stop them? Apparently Ghuta was host, and it turns out his host made it difficult for the blue guys to even get started (Start over blue team).

At this point the word "relentless" comes to mind. As if getting beaten down and then tripled up across map isn't demoralizing enough, blue team continued to try to fulfill some prophecy only they knew about by again attempting to rush the base with the hog. Again they came and again they failed (Look familiar?).

The end.

Final Score:
Team Forge Hub: 1
H3ITWP: 2

Familiar

Great games and even greater sportsmanship. H3ITWP is a real classy get up, and we're honored to have battled with you fine gentleman. Sorry we had to put the beatdown on ya (two-thirds of the time, anyway), we had to make up for our embarrassing loss to Halo 3 Mythbusters last time 'round. Thanks for taking the time to play, and thanks for the epic rendered film clips, Ghuta (even though we got totally owned in all three of them). Who knows, maybe we'll let you have another shot at us...someday :)
