Welcome to Forge Hub Graphics: A new contest for all our resident artists.

Forge Hub Graphics

Before we get started, you may be wondering, what's Forge Hub Graphics? Well, allow me to enlighten you. Forge Hub Graphics is a new contest run by myself for all the G&A'ers of Forge Hub coinciding with Sig of the Week. Basically, each month there will be a certain design type(CD Cover, T-Shirt, etc.) and theme your entry must correspond with. The basis of this contest is to break through the mould and to show that there's much more to Graphics(and arts) than signatures. Unlike SOTW, however, this is posted on the front page and each edition's runtime is a month. You'll have three weeks to enter preceded by a weeklong voting period followed by the winner being announced as well as the entry period, then rinse and repeat. Voting will be conducted to an almost paralleled system to SOTW's system, though much stricter. Voters must provide who they're voting for as well as an in depth reason behind that. Votes which do not abide by the rules will be disregarded and deleted.

Prizes

For winning an edition of Forge Hub Graphics, the user is rewarded with a User title as well as given the right to decide the them for the upcoming Sig of the Week. The runner up will receive the right to submit two entries in the next Sig of the Week they decide to compete in.

To recap:

1st Place- User title, Decides upcoming SOTW theme

2nd Place- Right to submit two sigs in the next SOTW they compete in

This edition's style and theme are...

Style: T-Shirt Design
Theme: Forge Hub

You must construct a T-Shirt design and it must be Forge Hub themed. It must be placed on a T-Shirt template and if you're unable to find one of your own, you can find one here.
You may only enter one design. However, you're allowed to enter up to 3 different variations of your design. Variations cannot be a new design - they can include colour alterations, adjusted brightness and contrast, different image placement, etc.

If you're at a loss, here's a few pointers courtesy of none other than Shock Theta.

1. Use vector artwork if possible. If you don't have access to programs like Illustrator or Corel Draw and have to work with raster graphics, make sure your starting image is appropriately sized. 2000x2000 pixels and 200 dpi will set you up nicely.
2. Precision is key. On such a large canvas, any errors and discrepancies will stand out and perpetually annoy the person wearing the T once they notice the flaw.
3. Stand out. You need to incorporate the theme of Forge Hub into the design, but at the same time not many people are going to want to wear a giant web forum logo emblazoned across their chest. You've got the colour scheme, the site logo, the site ethos all around you here. Don't stick to a simple, almost promotional design. Mix things up, get creative, twist and warp the theme and bring in other unique design elements you feel make the piece original and exciting.
4. When you're done, take a step back and look at your work. Would you wear it? In public? Is it a cool T? Is it a damn cool T? Answer Yes to all and you're onto a winner.

Entry rules

  • As previously stated; a Maximum of 1 Entry Per User with up to 3 variations.

  • To successfully enter your design you must provide a minimum of 2 progress screenshots. Alternatively you may host the .xcf or .psd file through FileFront. Failure to do so will result in your entry being disregarded.

  • It must be your design. Ripping will result in a permanent infraction.

  • You have 3 weeks to enter.
