Site Update - March 14th

New Infraction SystemThe infraction system on Forge Hub has been due an update for a while now, and we've finally got around to implementing that change after much discussion and debate. In short, we've simplified the process and added new features to help enforce the rules more effectively.

Changes to Warned and Banned triggers

The Warned rank has been split into three - the first remains the same, with subsequent ranks adding additional forum restrictions. The points requirement for being placed in the Banned usergroup has gone from 5 up to 6, and we've removed all the old automatic bans. Now, if you're above 5 points, you're banned. End of story. Once your infractions begin to expire, you'll drop back down to a Warned rank, and finally become a regular member again.

Example 1: A user currently has 4 infraction points, has been placed in the Warned II rank, and thus subjected to various forum restictions that limit their use of the site. They will remain warned until their infraction points expire and drop below 3, gaining back more of their forum privileges as each point is lost.

Example 2: A user currently has 6 infraction points, and has been automatically placed in the Banned rank. They will remain banned until at least one of their infraction points expires.

Permanent infractions

The final alteration to our infraction system is the addition of permanent infractions, whose points never expire. Permanent infractions will be handed out to members who repeatedly ignore the forum rules, and those who commit a serious offence.

Receiving a permanent infraction puts you in a situation where being warned or banned is more likely to occur as a result of future infractions. The intent is to make problem users behave properly, and give more thought to their actions. No longer can a member play the system by juggling infraction expiration dates and staying as close as possible to being warned or banned whilst behaving improperly. Permanent infraction points will start to build up until these members find themselves in a permanently warned state.

Members will have an opportunity to dispute any permanent infractions they might receive, by PM to the moderator who administered it. If you find yourself in this situation, make absolutely sure the infraction was unjust - the overwhelmingly vast majority will be upheld. In the rarest of circumstances permanent infractions may be reversed if the participant has displayed a genuine and prolonged change in behavior. Falsifying a change in demeanor with the intent of having a permanent infraction reversed will simply result in a second infaction.

Far Cry Forum CategoryThe Far Cry boards have been a noble attempt at encouraging users to share content, but we feel in its current form it detracts from the site more than it delivers. As a result, the boards have been moved to a sub forum of their own in gaming discussion. Posting in the section continues as before for those who are interested in the game.

Missing ImagesYou might notice in your travels about Forge Hub that there are a handful of blank spaces where once there were specific images. We're aware of the problem, and will be fixing it in the near future.

Map Forum PrefixesPrefixes are now a requirement when posting your map in the boards. You can choose from Pre-DLC, Heroic, Legendary, Mythic, Foundry or Sandbox - which enables browsing users to choose which to view based on the map packs they own, and/or avoid/seek out the more familiar environments of foundry and sandbox.

In addition, some forums have special prefixes such as Conquest in competitive, Infection in casual and Switch in aesthetic maps.

If you try to submit a thread without a prefix, you'll be prompted to select one before being allowed to continue.

That's all for this update. We'll be bringing you another in the near future, so stay tuned!
