2v2 Faceoff - End of Round Six

Round 6 ended on Sunday 12th October 5pm EST / 10pm GMT

Round 7 will end on Sunday the 19th October at 5pm EST / 10pm GMT

Round 7 matches have now been posted in your respective Group Sub-Boards

Remember - You play 3 matches - 1 Match on each of the 3 gametypes

Round six has been and gone, suitably raising the tension in this Faceoff a few more notches. Round seven is a Loser Bracket only week, so competition is tough to stay in the running this late in to the tournament. These LB teams no longer have the luxury of a safety net and so must fight to the last if they want to have a hope of clearing the group stages. The Winner Bracket can sit back and bask in their victory for one more week before the final 2 rounds in each bracket determine who will go into the group finals. The group sub-boards themselves are looking positively starved with only 2 matches a piece this week. All the better to keep an eye on your favourites and try to gauge who is really in the running for the final prize.

Start of Round Seven

Round seven will work just like round five did and the 6th round map (Eclipse) will still be used, only the losers bracket will play this round:

  • Only the losers bracket will play this week (round 7), giving the winners bracket a week off

  • Eclipse (below) will be played again this week, and Amalgam (below) has now been released, giving both brackets ample time to practice for round 8.

And remember, if you're stuck with anything, be sure to check out our tournament FAQ.

Eclipse (Round 7 map)

As an asymmetrical MLG-styled map, Eclipse utilizes a layout with multiple routes and pathways to each area of the map. The map is divided in to three main, distinctive parts, A base, B room and needle spawn. Between these areas there are a number of walkways, tunnels and ramps that allow for easy flow around the map. Eclipse puts a real emphasis on controlling the high ground whilst not making it a death sentence to attack an opponent who has a strong vantage point.

Amalgam (Round 8 map)

The first real breakthrough to come from the LHC at CERN, Amalgam is the result of two maps, namely Troika and Exacted, being smashed together at colossal speed. More comparable to Yukon Canyon than any other tournament map so far in terms of scale, you should seriously consider studying the BR locations carefully. Including Troika's coveted fish-tank, don't let Amalgam's sights draw you from the game. Things are starting to heat up.

Eclipse is still being played this round (round 7) and Amalgam will be played in round 8, so get your practice in now and get to know the layout and feel of the map. Good luck with your matches.
