TGIF 12 Recap

TGIF 12 was run under the new TGIF 2.0 format, which allowed players to swap between parties purely depending on what style of halo they felt like playing. The parties that players could choose from ranged from the highly competitive MLG party, right down to the purely for fun Rest 'N Relaxation and Rocket race parties.

For TGIF 12 we had 20 hosts, and the event was quite bumpy and hindered due to the new format. But for TGIF 13 we will only be employing the help of 10 hosts, in a hope to make the parties much more dedicated, but don''t worry, we will still cater for all aspects of gameplay. All hosts from now on will set their biography as their schedule, so you can plan before time what your TGIF experience will be like. Additionally, hosts will no longer have a set theme to adhere to allowing them much more freedom in their map and game choice.

Thank you to Penguinish for recording the video recap.

Host Reports

TrueDarkFusion - Rocket Race

I can honestly say this was the most fun I have ever had hosting a TGIF party. Normally boredom starts to set in as the night drags on. Well this time the night was fun filled with random chatter. I'm not sure what it was, but if I had to guess I would say it was the yelling that resulted from nabbing that one territory from right in front of the competing team. The night went through a rotation of Rocket Race, Bruteburn Out, and Foot Race. If you are wondering what Foot Race is, it is only the most epic race gametype ever that we designed in our party for maximum fun!

Asper49 - Rest N’ Relaxation

We had a rather bumpy start; few members, but that changed within the first thirty minutes. After an hour the friendly neighborhood AZN that happens to be FTW joined in, and the fun really started. Party members enjoyed the Non-stop barrage of mini-games, and causal maps... Many classic maps like: Stay on The swings, Tremors (both the original valhalla map, and Chipsinabox's new version) were played, along with some soon to be released maps by AZN and I. For the last thirty minutes we told jokes and played 'kill the fools on the elephant'.

We had a great time, this new way of TGIF is a great improvement. Can't wait to host again next time!

Dragoncoals - Objective

At the beginning I got at least 12 people, we started off with capture the flag then some territories. A few games after that people started leaving, and I didn't have enough people to play another game, and while I was inviting people, everyone else left, leaving me alone. I couldn't get enough people back in the game later on.

Oh well, I thought the idea was good.

Vicious Vice - Featured Maps & Everything Nice

This TGIF was fantastic. I had 10 people in the room at all times. I had a large amount of messages of people wanting to join and I'm sorry if everyone didn't get to join my room but like I mentioned we were constantly full and always playing. We played all the famous Featured Map including a lot of the Classics like Tremors, In the Shadows & Conquest. We also played some of my own maps which people enjoyed. Overall it was a fantastic evening that went late into the night. I really enjoyed the new system and all the participants preferred the new format. I only had to send out an invite or two the time I lagged out, but otherwise all went according to plan.

Roche178-European

It started out well we had 12 people playing some tremors and then Cat N' mouse then like half the party left to join other parties I then spent like 10 minutes inviting people because while inviting people started leaving, then while playing it got laggy but the times when we were actually playing were fun.

Infection - Time Glitch

Some people ask the question: Was it worth it? Did you find what you were looking for? Did you finally do it?

Answer: TGIF Infection=Epic Win

Hardcore Infection was a blast. Not only did we get intelligent people to play with, but it was a dedicated party who shared the passion of the grittier side of Infection. We played games like Zombinaut, I am Legend, Until Darkness, Lost Chambers, and loads of other hardcore infection gametypes. It was loads of fun, we had a ton of good times, and overall it was a very enjoyable experience getting to play all these great games with a great party.
Definitely doing this again.

DrawingMan- Big Team Madness

My TGIF Failed Epicly, first it took forever to get enough people to do BTB, People kept coming in and out. I started with Regular ol' Valhalla CTF hoping people would semi get acquainted, but sadly it failed, as there were 3 in one team, and 4 in the other, and one of the players who happened to be a general was being a douche to everyone else cause they sucked compared to him. He got booted though. after that, I couldn't get a decent amount of people to join, so I proceeded with taking the few people that tagged along to a racing Game to kill time as I sent more invites. We ended up with 3 people only in the end, so yeah. I had to cut my session short due to some personal things I had to take care of also sadly.

TDHarding - Rest N' Relaxation

My party started off pretty slowly due to a few human errors on my behalf, but eventually we had a enjoyable party consistently full with 10 people. We pretty much played every mini game under the sun and ended with some good ol' Clue, so for me it was a success!

G043R - Team Objective

The overall feel was good. I personally like the people joining in as the game progressed and we had a Wonderful time playing every objective map possible.

Ty - Casual Slayer

It was a pain to get people into the party. We had a couple good slayer matches but ended up playing Snow Mice and such because people apparently didn't read the party description. Otherwise it went ok.

Tex - Slayer

Lots of fun on my end, there was a weeee bit of lag, but nothing ridiculous, I had to close the party off at a peak of 8 to make sure it went as smoothly as possible for my party. All-in-all, it was a lot of fun hosting TGIF (This was my first time hosting), and I can't wait for next TGIF, as I won't be doing slayer again, I'm sooooo doing some cat n' mouse. Slayer gets old reaaaal quick...If I had to put this in some term of numbers and/or ratings...I'd say about 9/10.

Insane54 - Rest N Relaxation

Epic fail. I had trouble getting people into my party, I finally get 12 people together for a game of Tremors, I press the Start Game button. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...BAM! My phone line dies, along with my internet. I was stuck without internet for 5 days, just to wonder what happened to the rest of the party. Sorry guys!

IxGUNxSLINGERxI - Featured maps

My party went great it was a little slow at the start though trying to get more people in but after that my party went smoothly. we played some of the best featured maps out there (with some requests from the participants). but overall there where some great moments during my party's TGIF and i was really glad to meet some more of the hubbers from around forgehub.

Sarge - AWESOME Friday Night

So there I was, pondering all of the time I was about to spend, obligated to play halo for hours on end with people I've never talked to. Needless to say, I WAS EXCITED! I opened up my halo case, turned on my xbox, put the game in, and kept thinking what I had gotten myself into and why I had to follow the white rabbit...then...a miracle...the xbox awoke with the simple message "Disc Unreadable". I sat there for a minute, asking God why he was so merciful, I looked back down at my xbox, shrugged, and walked away. The movies and sushi I had that night were superb.

Iv0rY - MLG

My party was good fun, even thought it ran about half an hour short. The party began with me, Matty and a couple of other guys playing on some of the lesser known MLG maps, and when the party reached full size we hopped onto the big names, such as Amplified, Onslaught, @Different Level and all of the bungie default MLG maps.
Although my connection dropped out around the half-way mark, i managed to rejoin the party five or so minutes later and continue hosting. Thanks for the great night guys!
