The Rep System

The reputation system here at Forge Hub has been revamped to be more effective, relevant and something our members can feel confident using. Let's have a run down of the changes.

First things first, an explaination of how the reputation system works. It's actually quite simple. You have two stats that are tracked to your individual user profile.

Reputation - A numerical value that can be positive or negative. The higher your reputation, the greater your standing in the collective minds of the Forge Hub community. New users start with a Reputation value of 0.

Reputation Power -
The weighting of your reputation comments. Say for example you had a Reputation Power of 2. A positive reputation comment on another user would add 2 points to their Reputation. A negative comment has half this weight, and in this example would remove 1 point from the users Reputation.
(The only exception to this is that an Admin's negative reputation comments have the same power as their positive comments)

There are several ways in which your Reputation Power can be increased.

  1. +1 for 1 or more Reputation

  2. +1 for every 50 points of Reputation

  3. +1 for every 1,000 posts

  4. +1 for every year of membership at Forge Hub

There are some constraints on who can alter another users Reputation. This prevents new and/or jaded users from spamming negative rep. Your rep comments will only make a difference if you:

  1. Have a Reputation greater than 0

  2. Have more than 20 posts

Finally, the amount of reputation comments you can make are restricted in the following ways:

  1. You can make up to 10 reputation comments in any 24 hour period

  2. Before you can give reputation to a user again, you must give reputation, good or bad, to 15 other different users.

All users, regardless of rank, follow the same reputation rules. As you gain (or lose) Reputation, your avatar will update with a visual representation of your standing comprised of green (or red) blocks.

If someone puts effort into really constructive feedback, helps a fellow member with a problem or question, or does something truly heroic, send some positive rep their way by clicking the scales icon under their avatar to the left of the post in question. Alternatively, if you see something offensive, worthless or moronic, smite them mightily. A comment explaining your thoughts can be helpful to the user in question too.

All previous reputation comments have not been reset and are still in effect.

Good luck and play nice!
