Studied to design the Infinity, the Forerunner resonance chamber below nearly fell into the hands of the Flood. (There is more to this story found below)

Disclaimer: This map was created with a backstory as well as some creative gameplay in mind akin to the official popular map Zealot from Halo Reach. Similar to Zealot there’s an area out of atmosphere high up where breathing becomes impossible and a soft kill zone has been placed for mechanics. This is as designed, and should be used tactically to gain an advantage against your opponents via 2 ramping paths or with equipment. Spartans use this to simulate a Flood outbreak as the Flood are known to leap to such heights quite easily, further explained in the story below.

Story: This map takes place on a UNSC defended ONI black site built on an asteroid. Underground you will see through the glass floor the top of a massive Forerunner slipspace drive called a crystal resonance chamber (as depicted in the Halo Warfleet book).

This base was once the site of research for the design of the UNSC ship Infinity, but frozen Flood biomass was found trapped in the recesses of the core during excavation. Despite frozen solid and close to death, the Flood was only dormant. The ONI research team stationed here at the time took this as an opportunity to conduct experimentation with hopes of finding a cure, and if opportunity to control it arose to weaponize the Flood as a whole.

This was their undoing.

The Flood escaped confinement, and quickly took over the base. One of the survivors who had observed the frozen biomass when first discovered thought quickly, and ordered the previous onboard AI to unleash argon gas throughout the base, originally intended to be used as part of the base's emergency cooling systems. This froze the flood instantaneously. Most of those uninfected also succumbed to the gas including that brave soul, but this extreme measure ensured the Flood did not gain control of the slipspace drive which could have sown the seeds of chaos and death throughout the galaxy.

This is Director Forge. Reclamation attempts are underway. More than half of the base has been reclaimed. All traces of the flood there have been sterilized. The remaining flood biomass is coated in a thick and potent acid cocktail as it slowly is allowed to thaw in the cleanup process. 32% remains. Daily drills are to be conducted by Spartans to ensure readiness in case the Flood should resuscitate. Furthermore, all on-site personnel are ferried to the site without knowledge of where they are, including command. This ensures that any gravemind formed here would be unable to calculate an accurate slipspace jump to other colonized worlds. Nearby bases have been established as watch posts to atomize the black site the moment any further outbreak begins.

You are the first defense. Maintain readiness. Dam the Flood. Be ready to die.
